Japan Fest 2018
October 6, 2018 at 2 PM
New Orleans Museum of Art - Stern Auditorium
Watch karate athletes of all ages, from youth beginners to US National Team members, demonstrate effective self-defense techniques, traditional form sequences, freestyle sparring & more!
Join us at the LKA Karate Club demonstration at Japan Fest, in the New Orleans Museum of Art - Stern Auditorium, on Saturday, October 6 at 2 PM.
During our demo, you'll see the strikes, kicks, punches, blocks, sweeps & throws of Shotokan style karate from the students of Master Takayuki Mikami (9th degree black belt), who was the first instructor to be sent to New Orleans in 1965 by the Japan Karate Association in Tokyo to promote the traditional art of karate in the US. He continues to lead the LKA Karate Club in Metairie, and we are now the longest running karate club in the South!
After the demo, feel free to speak with our students and instructors.
Japan Fest entrance fee is $5 (free for NOMA members) and includes a fun-filled day of cultural displays at the largest Japanese cultural festival in the Gulf South!
